I have to admit that as much as I LOVE the look of bangles stacked on my wrist, I have issues with wearing them. I have my reasons. For starters, most often I have trouble even getting out of the house with them on because of the noise they make. I am constantly brushing my hair out of my face, motioning with my hands/arms, or something else that inexplicably causes bangles to make an irritating amount of noise. Then let's say I do get out of the house... to the car. Where I usually put on my makeup in the passenger's seat while The Photog drives to work in the morning. Again, more arm movement/more noisy clanking and jingling of bangles. (Alas, we can all understand The Photog's frustration with the cup holder shortage, as that's where they end up.) I've even made it all the way into the office, to my desk with bangles on and sit down to work. I usually can't make it for a whole 5 minutes before I take them off and put them on my desk so that I don't clank against the keyboard/desk the entire time I'm typing emails/etc. So why do I keep wearing bangles? Why do I shop for them and buy them as if they are not optional? Why is probably my favorite go-to accessory? Because they're pretty. And for the $, I think they're the best accessory to add instant impact and polish to an outfit. They're also versatile... you can wear one as a simple accessory or stack several different widths/colors/textures together for a more dramatic look. Did I mention that they're pretty? :)
Just a few of my favorites at the moment....
1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 8
those are gorgeous! I want!
ReplyDeleteI hate the 'clinking' too, it drives me nuts!
DeleteWhy can't someone invent click-free bangles? Plus they're in the way at work when I have to use the computer a lot.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more - I do have quite a few bangles, but so rarely wear mine for the same reason! It gets even more difficult/complicated when you add kids into the mix...but now you have me wanting these, so thanks alot! :)

I know what you mean. Since I pretty much spend my entire day either typing or lecturing, bangles pretty much don't fit my lifestyle. I have developed a love for flexible wrap bracelets that can give the same effect as a stack of bangles without being bulky/clicky.
ReplyDeletehahaha, I totally know what you mean!! I do love the look of bangles though-- especially the ones from Stella & Dot!! have you checked them out? http://bit.ly/A8Jp3I
ReplyDeleteHa, I'm the same way! If I make it out of the house, they definitely don't make it the whole day on my wrist. I've been good about not purchasing them in a while for this reason. Love the ones you pictured though!

Oh I completely understand what you're saying. I hate the clinking noise too. But I do love how they look. Really liked no. 5 and 8.
ReplyDeleteIt's a longstanding joke at my office that when someone comes to visit me, they find a pile of jewelry on my desk by mid-morning. I love layering up on rings and bracelets, but I find it so hard to type and work with the constant noise and the way they hit my keyboard. So every single day, there's a nice stack of shiny jewelry somewhere on my desk!
ReplyDeleteI love bangles! I have been lucky enough to be able to go through some of my grandmother's jewelry to keep and she had some amazing bangles! Number 2 with the pattern is definitely my favorite!

I too have a love/hate relationship with bangles especially when working at a computer all day. or trying to get my coat sleeve over all the chunkiness. But as with shoes, I tend to work through the pain! Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteLooove bangles, especially gold with colored accents right now. Dying for a Kate Spade one!!
ReplyDeleteI love the one from Banana Republic (#2). I hate the sound they make and how difficult it is to type, write, etc, but they're so fun! It's such a love/hate relationship! -Dreama
ReplyDeleteThe noises always drives me nuts so I always take them off. Love #3!
ReplyDeleteFor the office I can't wear more than one bangle at a time. I do love the look of stacked bangles, but I don't like to announce everywhere I'm going by the jingle jangle of bangles!
ReplyDeletesame problem! But they look sooo gooood:)
ReplyDeleteAdorable! My biggest problem is that my wrists and hands are so small (yet I am 5'9") that they slip right off my hands.

Can totally relate! I work from home so kind of amused that I stack them on only to remove all of them within five minutes when i get to my in-home office. Still... I love them!
ReplyDeleteSarah, I couldn't agree more about your thoughts on bangles! I love them but always end up taking them off less than an hour into wearing them! They are so darn pretty though! I hope you have a great weekend! x www.casualglamorous.com
ReplyDeleteI don't own a single bracelet for this very reason. I can't STAND how badly they get in the way of everything, not to mention the noise. That said, there are one or two vintage bracelets I have my eye on. Oh, fashion.
ReplyDeleteNumber 6 is my favorite!!! I also like the one that's kind of similar from J. Crew!!
ReplyDeleteI had a good laugh when I was reading this post because yes, as much as I love all my bangles the noise sometimes drives me crazy! But then I see what you picks and I want them all, no matter how much they'll be getting on my nerves. :-)
ReplyDeleteI prefer the cuffs :)))))))))))))))
ReplyDeleteTheir all gorgeous!

Great collection. I am just now starting to slowly add these to my wardrobe. No doubt, they have a magical way of making me feel a little better put together when I put them on. I can totally see you in #3.
ReplyDeleteI love bangles but half the time they are too big on my wrists and then they tend to fly off :( I love the bright colors and patterns you can find though. Loving your blog... newest follower :) Come visit the Glitterati. We'd love a follow :)

I'm addicted to bangles. My staff so they know when I'm coming because of the sound of my clanking bracelets. :)
ReplyDeleteI love #7 nice and thin but still packs a nice punch of colour!

My friends and I often joke that we load up our arms with bangles, get to work, take them off, then put them back on at the end of the day to go home. Hope our fellow commuters appreciate it! I love the white Marc by Marc Jacobs (number 6) - the link style looks fresh and new.
